A couple of years ago, Business Insider reported on a study that showed that while the average hotel room-sharing bill was about $7, hotels and motel rooms can cost less than $10.
Since then, room-shares have gone up in popularity.
In an effort to find the cheapest hotels and room-shared options, we surveyed hotel experts, looked at the travel data on Airbnb and Priceline and compared the prices for hotel rooms to other options.
The results are in: Most of the cheap hotel options are still for $10 or less, and the ones that aren’t are usually in the $20-$40 range.
The one exception to this rule is the cheapest hotel in San Francisco, which costs just $19 a night.
The other hotel that is getting a lot of attention is the $25-a-night Bamboo Room in the Old City, which has room for 10 guests.
The room-partnership is one of the more popular Airbnb and Airbnb-like services.
